Drew Dollaz is a pioneer of flexing, a Brooklyn-based genre of street dance also referred to as bone breaking, which is characterized by rhythmic contortionist movements. A self-taught dancer, Dollaz’ signature work blends flexing with other genres of movement, including ballet, to create a transcendent hybrid of movement artistry.
From Blaine: “Erica visited NYC last year when I had just purchased my camera and wanted to do some tests. She had been wanting to make a video featuring Drew for quite some time and suggested this location at Coney Island. Unfortunately, the forecast predicted rain on the one day we had time to shoot. Instead of letting my fears -of ruining my new camera system- get the best of me, we decided to lean into it and embrace the added free production value, strapping plastic bags to my handles, viewfinder, and mattebox. I couldn’t be happier with the results. “
